Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU)The Department of Clinical Research at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), a constituent of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully organized the Valedictory Ceremony of its five-week intensive training program titled “Ensuring Integrity of Healthcare: Good Clinical Practice and Medical Ethics” along with a two-day “Capacity Building Workshop on Healthcare Research & Biostatistics” at BC Roy Auditorium. The ceremony was organized under the leadership of Dr. Nikku Yadav along with her dedicated team members — Dr. D. C. Dhasmana, Dr. Ruchi Juyal, Dr. Manisha Sharma, Mr. Abhinav, Ms. Akanksha, Ms Charu Palwal and Ms. Pooja.The program commenced with the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony and Guru Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Piyush Agarwal, Head – Clinical Development at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. The event was also graced by Dr. Vijendra Chauhan, Director General (Academic Development), SRHU.Dr. Ahmadulla Shariff, Dean, HIMS, SRHU, delivered the Welcome Address and highlighted the importance of structured training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), medical ethics, regulatory compliance, study design, and statistical applications in strengthening healthcare delivery systems. He emphasized that adherence to GCP principles is fundamental not only for regulatory compliance but also for ensuring participant safety, data credibility, and ethical research conduct.Dr. R. J. Yadav, Former Director Grade Scientist ‘G’, NIMS–ICMR, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, addressed the gathering and underscored the significance of quality data in healthcare research. He elaborated on project evaluation strategies and the appropriate application of statistical methodologies in clinical research.In his address, Dr. Vijendra Chauhan reaffirmed that SRHU, as a dedicated healthcare university, carries a profound responsibility to promote research that is scientifically robust, ethically sound, and compliant with Good Clinical Practice standards. He stressed that high-quality research must not only generate reliable evidence but also safeguard the dignity, rights, and safety of research participants.The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Piyush Agarwal, who shared valuable insights into clinical development processes, industry expectations, and the pivotal role of well-structured study designs and accurate statistical interpretation in ensuring patient safety and data integrity. He encouraged participants to uphold ethical standards and continuously enhance their analytical competencies.The academic initiative was organized by the Department of Clinical Research, HIMS, under the aegis of Swami Rama Himalayan University, with support from the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.Dr. Nikku Yadav, HOD – Clinical Research, stated that the five-week program comprised 137 hours of comprehensive training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), medical ethics, regulatory frameworks, research methodology, and hands-on sessions utilizing advanced research and statistical software platforms. The sessions were facilitated by distinguished experts from both academia and industry, reflecting a strong amalgamation of academic excellence and practical industry exposure.Representatives from leading pharmaceutical and research organizations, including Bharat Biotech, AstraZeneca, and Clinical Research Network India, were also present, further strengthening the industry–academia interface and enriching the learning experience for participants.Certificates were distributed to 30 resource persons were recognized for their significant contributions through lectures, mentoring, and practical training sessions. University officials Dr. Kiran Bhat, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Dr. Pramod, Dr. Pradeep Varshney, Dr. Yogendra Singh, Dr. Amzad Hussain, Dr Vikas Jadon, Dr Ankit Batra and Dr. Rajiv Bijalwan also graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr Ruchi Juyal, followed by the National Anthem, a group photograph, and brunch. The valedictory function marked the successful culmination of an intensive academic journey fostering ethical awareness, methodological competence, and research excellence, reflecting SRHU’s continued commitment to promoting integrity, quality, and innovation in healthcare research and clinical practice.
