Haridwar.
The three-day National Sports Day celebrations were held with great enthusiasm under the joint aegis of District Wushu Association, Dynamic Sports Academy Missarpur and Jan Adhikar Abhiyan. On this occasion, India’s famous national hockey player Major Dhyan Chand was remembered and tribute was paid to him. National Sports Day is celebrated across the country every year on the occasion of Major Dhyan Chand’s birthday. Football, athletes, Wushu, Judo Karate and cricket players, sports teachers, coaches were honored by presenting them with certificates, mementos and robes.
Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan attended as the chief guest. The program was presided over by social worker Jagdish Lal Pahwa, and the special guest was social worker and Boxing Association President Dr. Vishal Garg. The program was conducted by Dr. Radhika Nagrath, and Aarti Saini expressed her gratitude. Addressing the players, MLA Adesh Chauhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Khelo India encourages all players to become high-level athletes. He appealed to everyone to develop a passion for hockey like Vandana Kataria. He said that after Uttarakhand became a state, players from Haridwar and other parts of Uttarakhand have had the opportunity to showcase their talent at the provincial and national levels. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the National Games were held in Uttarakhand for the first time, in which players from Uttarakhand performed well.
He said that sports boost youth’s self-confidence, promote physical health, and also promote mental development. He added that sports are essential to life. Adesh Chauhan appealed to athletes and youth to draw inspiration from the life of Swami Vivekananda.
Aarti Saini, Secretary of the District Wushu Association, Haridwar District, and a renowned national self-defense coach, congratulated all the players on their honors. She said that hard work is unmatched. Dedication and hard work are essential to becoming a good athlete.
Former national cricket coach Prakash Joshi said that Haridwar district has immense potential if children are granted free entry to the newly built stadium. Their coaches will be able to teach the children there in a better way, as providing facilities to athletes should be a priority for every city’s administration.
Social worker Jagdish Lal Pahwa extended his best wishes to everyone. Dr. Vishal Garg, while extending his best wishes on Sports Day, urged all the players to maintain constant focus on their goals like Arjuna, only then will they achieve unprecedented success in life. Guests honored sports teachers, coaches, and players from various sports by presenting them with certificates, mementos, Rudraksha garlands, and clothing. Present on the occasion were Sunil Dutt Pandey, Sushil Kumar Sharma, Krishnanand Joshi, Gambhir Singh Rana, Mayank Gupta, Tushar Gautam, and others.
