Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) today attended the second convocation of the Corps University, Roorkee and presented degrees and medals to the students.
Addressing the convocation on this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh called upon the students to play an active role in nation-building. He said that convocation is not merely an occasion to receive a degree, but rather the beginning of a conscious journey from self-awareness to national awareness.

The Governor said that the true purpose of education should not be merely to obtain employment, but to foster self-reliance, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to become job creators rather than job seekers and urged them to pursue startups and entrepreneurship.

He said that after graduation, students’ responsibilities increase. From today, they are not just students, but nation-builders. Making the mantra of “Nation First” their foundation, he stated that the path to a developed India will be paved more by aware and committed youth than by government schemes. He urged students to keep the nation paramount even in their dreams and to enhance India’s glory through their actions, character, and determination.

The Governor said that today is an era of technology and innovation. India is advancing rapidly in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space technology, cybersecurity, semiconductor and nanotechnology. In such a situation, youth must move forward with a balance between tradition and modernity. Referring to Indian civilization, the Vedas, Puranas, and spiritual heritage, he said that character building is equally important as technical proficiency.

The Governor commended the university’s achievements, praising its research, innovation, MoUs with industries, and efforts to advance in global competition. He congratulated the outstanding students, especially the gold medalists, and wished them a bright future.
On this occasion, while welcoming the guests, the President of the University, Jais Jain said that this time the University has awarded degrees to 600 students in various subjects and the University will soon open new subjects.

The Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trophy was awarded at the convocation to three students: Ms. Ayushi Panwar (B.Com Hons., 2022-25) for securing the highest CGPA at the university level with 9.9, Ms. Dona Chauhan (Diploma in Civil Engineering, 2023-25) for securing 9.16 CGPA and Mr. Honey Choudhary (MCA, 2023-25) for securing 9.5 CGPA.

The convocation was presided over by Dr. Ajay Sharma, University Registrar. Prof. N.K. Goyal, Chairman of the Global Telecom and Education Association, was the Guest of Honor. University President Mr. J.C. Jain, Vice President Dr. Shreyansh Jain, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Chinnaiyan Ramasubramanian, faculty members, and students were present at the convocation.
