Under the guidance of Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Almora Shrikant Pandey a Mega multipurpose legal literacy and awareness camp was organized at very farflung area situated Atal Utkrisht Government Inter College Bhikiyasain under the Chairmanship of Shachi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Shachi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority. The general public and students present at the camp were made aware about the establishment and functions of NALSA, SLSA, District Legal Services Authority, rights of women, children, transgender people, senior citizens, NALSA toll-free helpline number 15100, Childline number 1098, free legal aid etc. The NALSA theme song was played. Certificates were given to students who participated in cultural programs at the camp and other beneficiaries received 2 laptops, 10 tablets, 11 wheelchairs, 100 walking sticks, 54 hearing aids, 25 water purifiers, 4 Mahalaxmi kits, 2 cricket kits, 2 badminton kits, 2 basketballs, 8 sewing machines etc. 100 blankets were distributed at the camp in collaboration with Ram Krishna Kutir, Almora. The Health Department conducted free health checkups, distributed free medicines and issued 15 disability certificates. Free eye check-up was done and free spectacles were distributed by Haidakhan Charitable Trust Chiliyanaula Ranikhet. The officers of other departments provided information about the welfare schemes of their departments, benefits of various schemes were given, cards etc. were made and stalls were set up. Swami Mayadhishanand from Ram Krishna Kutir Almora, Sub-District Magistrate Ms. Yakshi Arora, Incharge Block Education Officer Neeraj Lohani, Block Development Officer Gopal Singhnegi, Child Development Project Officer Mukesh Kumar, District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Mohd. Shahid, DPO Almora Kalpana Manral, Principal Shri Bhawani Ram Bharti etc. were present in the camp. Saraswati Vandana, welcome song, Kumaoni dance, two street plays, songs and speeches etc. were presented by the students of various schools in the camp. Secretary District Legal Services Authority inspected the stalls set up by various departments and took information about the help and benefits given to the general public. Adhikar Mitras of Dwarahat, Takula and Almora helped the general public through help desk and legal stall and distributed approximately 2000 free legal pamphlets. Around 5000 people benefited from the camp.
