Uttaranchal Punjabi Mahasabha Haridwar celebrated the 25th Lohri festival with great pomp and show in Jwalapur Inter College. A large number of denizens participated in the fair. The highlight of the fair was melodies by the famous Punjabi singer Channi. Various stalls of Punjabi food were set up all around the pandal. People danced to the songs of the famed singer
Chairman of the Punjabi Mahasabha Lohri fest, Anil Kumar welcomed all the guests. He said that the festival of Lohri is connected to the people at large and with this festival, the festivals of Hindus begin. He said that this is the 25th Lohri festival of Punjabi Mahasabha Haridwar. The fest inspires us of social responsibilities, rituals and spiritual energy.
Presiding as chief guest, former cabinet minister Madan Kaushik said that Punjabi society has an important role in the development of Uttarakhand. He said that after independence, Punjabi society achieved its prestigious position in the society by struggling hard. The history of Punjabi society is inspiring. He wished everyone a happy Lohri festival.
Kaushik said that Uttaranchal Punjabi Mahasabha organizes Lohri festival in a traditional way every year. Lohri festival also gives the youth an opportunity to know and understand their culture. He said that the young generation should be guided regarding festivals.
Special guest Dr. Anupam Jagga, Principal of DPS Ranipur said that Lohri Mahaparva is an important folk festival. It connects the society and is a symbol of social harmony.
