Haridwar.The 6-day long National Archery Championship Mahakumbh was inaugurated today at SMJN PG College, Haridwar under the aegis of RJK Foundation. In which more than 700 archers from 27 states across the country have gathered together with bows and arrows. It will conclude on June 21.This national championship is being organised under the patronage and guidance of Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, National President of All India Akhara Parishad and President of Shri Mansa Devi Temple Trust.Municipal Corporation Mayor Kiran Jaisal, Railway Superintendent of Police Ms. Aruna Bharti, and College Principal Dr. Sunil Batra jointly inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. Cultural programs were also organized on the occasion. The program was presided over by Foundation Patron Naresh Chauhan. Dr. Radhika Nagrath and Kanchan Taneja jointly conducted the program.Haridwar Municipal Corporation Mayor Kiran Jaisal said that sports awaken national spirit and sports create a sense of dedication towards the nation among the youth, which strengthens the nation. She said that holding this championship in Haridwar will create more interest in archery among the youth.Railway Superintendent of Police, Ms. Aruna Bharti, stated that sports promote mental and physical development of youth and promote healthy lives. She noted that youth interest in sports has increased rapidly over the past decade, and the state of Uttarakhand has also made significant progress in the field of sports. She congratulated the organizers of the Archery National Championship for organizing this major event.College Principal Dr. Sunil Batra said that sports energize youth. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to elevate the level of sports in India by inaugurating Khelo India, which has benefited the country and has rapidly increased youth interest in sports.Kuldeep Singh Chauhan, coordinator of the Archery National Championship, stated that over 700 youth from 27 states across the country are participating in the fourth Archery National Championship. Players from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and other states are participating. Kuldeep Chauhan and Ramesh Prasad, directors of the RJK Foundation, stated that the championship’s unique feature is that gold medalists will receive a real gold medal. It is being jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Archery Foundation and the Haridwar District Archery Foundation. The championship is divided into four age groups. Mahant Rachit Giri of the Panchayati Shri Anand Akhara and Mahant Rajni Giri of the Panchadashanam Juna Akhara offered their blessings. Dr. Sanjay Maheshwari, Dr. Shiv Kumar Chauhan, Vinay Thapliyal, Dr. J.C. Arya, and Mohan Chandra Pandey were present. The guests were honoured with mementos by Principal Dr Sunil Kumar Batra. Today’s competition is being organised in the under 13 age group.
